چکیده

Collaborative edition is achieved by distinct sites that work independently on (a copy of) a shared document. Conflicts may arise during this process and must be solved by the collaborative editor. In pure Peer to Peer col-laborative editing, no centralization nor locks nor time-stamps are used which make conflict resolution difficult. We propose an algorithm which relies on the notion or semantics dependence and avoids the need of any integration transformation to solve conflicts. Furthermore, it doesn't use any history file recording operations performed since starting the edition process. We show how to define editing operations for semi-structured documents i.e. XML-like trees, that are enriched with informations derived for free from the editing process. Then we define the semantics dependence relation required by the algorithm and we present preliminary results obtained by a prototype implementation.

Handling Conflicts through Multi-level Editing in Peer-to-peer Environments

The handling of conflicts in collaborative editing over hierarchical documents in peer-to-peer networks is a very important issue. In this paper we show how the multi-level editing approach that recursively applies a tombstone transformational approach over the document levels offers support for flexible conflict definition and resolution.

CoBTx-Net: A Model for Reliability Verification of Collaborative Business Transaction

The collaborative business process can be unreliable when business partners collaborate in a peer-to-peer fashion without central control. Therefore, an important issue that needs to be dealt with for any generic solution to manage collaborative business transaction is reliability verification. In this paper, we propose a novel Choreographical Business Transaction Net (CoBTx-Net) to specify col...

Conflicts of interest in medical science: peer usage, peer review and 'CoI consultancy'.

In recent years, the perception has grown that conflicts of interest are having a detrimental effect on medical science as it influences health policy and clinical practice, leading medical journals to enforce self-declaration of potential biases in the attempt to counteract or compensate for the problem. Conflict of interest (CoI) declarations have traditionally been considered inappropriate i...

Group awareness of social and cognitive behavior in a CSCL environment

This study investigated whether a peer feedback tool and a reflection tool would enhance group performance in a computer-supported collaborative learning environment. The underlying assumption was that group performance can be positively influenced by making group members aware of how their social and cognitive behavior is perceived by themselves, their peers, and the group as a whole. Particip...
